London Calling Runners for Royal Parks Half Marathon!

There are currently (now 2) places still available to run for Invest in ME Research in the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 13 October 2019. This will be another great opportunity for the charity to raise awareness of its strategy of funding high-quality biomedical research and the development of a UK/European Centre of Excellence for ME – and raise awareness of the need for biomedical research into this disease. 

  • This Royal Parks Half Marathon route winds through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and The Green Park) in all their autumnal splendour.
  • There are 16000 runners in the marathon.
  • The course is 13.1 miles (21 km) long.
  • The route takes in the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

Welcome to Pets Walkies for ME 2019!

All pets are welcome to join Team Walkies for ME, an adorable offshoot of the annual May ME Awareness and Fundraiser Walk for ME.

Walkies for ME is arranged by Ian McPhee. The team comprises a group of wonderful pets whose humans have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

These lovely dogs, cats, horses and others will be doing a walk on their human’s behalf or resting with them, providing comfort and love.

They have their own JustGiving page justgiving.com/fundraising/walkies-for-me-2019 and are raising funds for Invest in ME Research charity.

You can, of course, create your own fundraising page for the team, like Cheyenne Hope’s for dynamic duo Lizzie and Kenzo planning to do 31 walks in 31 days for Invest in ME Research!

Walkies for ME also has a Facebook page facebook.com/WalkiesforME/ where folks can share photos of their pets and where you can let the team know if your pet would like to join in. All Pets Are Welcome!

Invest in ME Research is an independent UK charity finding, funding and facilitating a strategy of biomedical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or ME/CFS). The charity is run by volunteers – patients or parents of children with ME – with no paid staff. Overheads are kept to a minimum and all funds raised to go to promoting education of, and funding for, biomedical research into, ME. Our efforts are focused on setting up a UK Centre of Excellence for ME which will provide proper examinations, diagnosis and in time treatment(s)/cure(s).

Play for Invest in ME Research Launches With Love

 

Music was the food of love for ME at The Spinning Top in Stockport on Sunday 17th Feb. The Valentines Music Fundraiser launched ‘Play for Invest in ME Research’ created by Karen Morris to raise money for the charity’s Biomedical Research Fund while also raising awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

The idea of Play for IiMER is to organise gigs around the country in aid of the charity. Karen hopes to organise more gigs herself if health allows (Karen has ME) and hopes that others in UK will help her to make Play for Invest in ME Research go nationwide by organising and filming similar gigs in aid of the charity.

Invest in ME Research has secured FIFTEEN places in the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 14th October 2018 and some are still available.

All funds raised for Invest in ME Research will go to supporting, promoting or funding biomedical research into ME so please spread the word.

Get in Great Company for Fantasy Football League 2018/19!

⚽ The York ME TGA Inter-Company Fantasy Football League is open for season 2018/19. Open for all businesses to join in, not just York-based.

⚽ All funds raised go directly to UK charity Invest in ME Research.


The York ME TGA Inter-Company Fantasy Football League is open for season 2018/19 and all funds raised will again be going directly to Invest in ME Research. Open to ALL businesses, and they don’t have to be York-based to join up, so please share widely to let companies know about this opportunity to have a bit of fun and gain some bragging rights, while helping a great cause!

Bill Clayton of The York ME Community runs this Inter-Company Fantasy Football League sponsored by TGA Mobility. This is to help raise awareness of the illness Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) that affects around 250,00 people in the UK.

Entry for a company team will be £25.00, and if they wish to enter more than one team, the remainder will be only £15.00 each. Once teams are up and running, registration fees will be requested to be paid to The York ME Community fundraising page on Just Giving, going directly to the charity, Invest in ME Research: justgiving.com/fundraising/The-York-ME-Community

There will be a trophy, bragging rights, media coverage, as well as publicity from The York ME Community world wide website and social media.

Remember the company does not need to be York based to join up – everyone is welcome!

Companies are asked to sign up before 10 August, which is the league start date.
