Dates have been announced for the 2018 international biomedical research conference events, organised and hosted by Invest in ME Research, and held at One Great George Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3AA.

This will be the 13th Invest in ME Conference (IIMEC13) and the 8th Biomedical Research into Colloquium (BRMEC8), with an international reputation as events that can drive forward progress in this disease, which will benefit patients and healthcare organsations and, ultimately, society.

The BRMEC* colloquiums are two-day events which bring together researchers and clinicians from countries around the world. The intent is to make progress in research into ME via collaboration, sharing, discussion and creation of new initiatives. As such the charity considers this a key event in the week’s proceedings.

An extra day has been added to the 2018 colloquium, specifically for early career researchers, and is headlined ‘Thinking the Future‘.

The IIMEC* conferences attract researchers, professionals working in healthcare (GPs, nurses, paediatricians etc.), students, media personnel, politicians and ME patient groups, patients and carers from around the world.

The conferences maintain a friendly atmosphere with the focus on research, treatments and progress.

Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition, has kindly agreed to give the opening speech at IIMEC13 and this news has been very warmly welcomed by patients, families, carers, researchers, as may be seen by the messages in this online Thank You card, which anyone may sgn.

If you belong to a local ME support group, there’s an option to recommend a GP or other healthcare professional for a concessionary rate. The conference is CPD-accredited so this a good opportunity.

Invest in ME Research is run by volunteers and all work is carried out for free. The charity does not receive government funding or huge donations from big institutions to run the conference. Therefore, to enable them to provide the best events possible they welcome donations or sponsorship from companies, organisations, support groups and individuals to make the International ME Conferences and Colloquiums a success.

The undercover agents at Let’s Do It for ME can’t attend these important annual events in person as we are housebound by ME, so this year we had the idea of donating what it would cost us to the charity instead.
