Charity Acclamation Award

Deadline for nominations 29th April 2019!

In 2019, claims.co.uk launched the Charity Acclamation Award, designed to recognise charities for the vital work they carry out. Members of the public can nominate their favourite charities using the online nomination form.

The Charity Acclamation Award aims to reward small, grassroots charities not only with appreciation, but with a cash prize towards their cause.

There are three prizes available:

1st prize: £3,000
2nd prize: £1,000
3rd prize: £500

Managing Director of claims.co.uk and Chair of Judges, John Quail said: “For years, we’ve seen the fantastic work that grassroots charities do, and we want to give back. Nobody knows how great these charities are quite like those who have directly received support from them – and that’s why we need help choosing!”

To enter, complete the nomination form and share any personal experience you have of Invest in ME Research, whether that’s through direct support, or recognition of their contribution to your community, using as much detail as possible to help the charity’s chances of being selected.

  • Entrants must be aged 18 and over.
  • Only one entry per person is permitted.

You will need to enter the charity’s name – Invest in ME Research – and their website address: http://www.investinme.org

The panel of judges will then choose a shortlist and you’ll have a chance to vote for them to make sure they come out on top.

Things to consider in your nomination:

  • How did they change yours, your loved one’s or your community’s life?
  • How do you think the money would help them?
  • If you could say one thing to the charity, what would it be?

Entries close on the 29th April 2019.

Invest in ME Research is an independent UK charity finding, funding and facilitating a strategy of biomedical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or ME/CFS), as defined by WHO-ICD-10-G93.3. and promoting better education about ME.

Invest in ME Research is run by volunteers – patients or parents of children with ME – with no paid staff.

Overheads are kept to a minimum to enable all funds raised to go to promoting education of, and facilitating and funding biomedical research into, ME.

The charity believes that biomedical research into ME is crucial in order to make progress in treating this disease. We also believe that education of healthcare staff, the media, government departments, patient groups and patients is to be a priority.

The charity’s objectives are to initiate, maintain and augment a strategy of high-quality biomedical research into ME, to provide education about ME, and to raise awareness of the effects of the disease on patients and families.

We are a small charity but with supporters who have big hearts – and a determination to get the best possible research to be carried out to find the cause of myalgic encephalomyelitis and develop treatments. Read more…

Welcome to Pets Walkies for ME 2019!

All pets are welcome to join Team Walkies for ME, an adorable offshoot of the annual May ME Awareness and Fundraiser Walk for ME.

Walkies for ME is arranged by Ian McPhee. The team comprises a group of wonderful pets whose humans have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

These lovely dogs, cats, horses and others will be doing a walk on their human’s behalf or resting with them, providing comfort and love.

They have their own JustGiving page justgiving.com/fundraising/walkies-for-me-2019 and are raising funds for Invest in ME Research charity.

You can, of course, create your own fundraising page for the team, like Cheyenne Hope’s for dynamic duo Lizzie and Kenzo planning to do 31 walks in 31 days for Invest in ME Research!

Walkies for ME also has a Facebook page facebook.com/WalkiesforME/ where folks can share photos of their pets and where you can let the team know if your pet would like to join in. All Pets Are Welcome!

Swim a mile in May for ME is a new fundraiser for Invest in ME Research.

Anyone is welcome to take part and the idea is that a team, or an individual, swim a mile in May ME Awareness Month to raise funds for the charity Invest in ME Research for biomedical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).

It can be a relay, an individual swim or a number of swims throughout May to reach your total.

The target is a mile but individuals and teams can choose to do more or less or whatever is appropriate for them.

Absolutely everyone is welcome to join the team regardless of distance aimed for and there are no set fundraising targets just whatever feels appropriate.

Please do join in if you can!

There’s a team page on JustGiving but if you’re using another fundraising platform just let us know if you want to be included in the team total raised. We’d love to hear about any swims people are planning and will help if we can.

Supporters can also email the charity directly at info@investinme.org for fundraising aids such as T-shirts, wristbands, info materials, collection boxes and if you are also collecting money offline, you can download sponsorship forms.

To create your own fundraising page and join the Swim a mile in May for ME team on JustGiving:

1. Go to justgiving.com/investinm-e
