£200k target hit for IiMER Gut Microbiota Fund!

You’ve done it again!

We are pleased to announce that another target for our crowdfunding campaign for a strategy of biomedical research into ME has been reached.

This update to our gut microbiota and related projects fund being performed at the UK Centre of Excellence for ME hub in Norwich Research Park brings the total raised so far for projects there to £200,000.

The research found, funded and facilitated by Invest in ME Research is the result of dedicated, generous and determined supporters who have not just given money but, also huge amounts of time and effort toward helping us change the direction of research into ME in UK and Europe.

The latest target has allowed us to fund two PhD studentships currently undertaking research at the Centre of Excellence hub in Norwich Research Park and allowed us to decide to commit to the future funding of another PhD at the Centre.

Please click here for the full update by Invest in ME Research giving details of the latest study in the biomedical research programme and other projects related to the UK Centre of Excellence for ME, and a message to you from the charity’s Chairman Kathleen McCall: http://www.investinme.org/ce-news-1709-04.shtml

We supporters at Let’s Do It for ME would like to thank the Trustees and Scientific Advisory Board of Invest in ME Research for their vision and dedication, and everyone working with them to establish diagnostic tests and medical treatment options for some 250,000 people with ME in UK and millions around the world.

Our thanks to each and every individual, family, group, team, organisation or company contributing to this vital research and supporting by whatever means.

Let’s keep doing it for ME!

GIVE IT UPtober 2017

uptober

A simple idea to give up a small luxury during the month of October and donate the saving to Invest in ME Research – a charity run entirely by dedicated volunteers working so hard on behalf of people with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and driving progress with a biomedical research strategy to find cause & cure.

We appreciate how few luxuries are left for people with ME, however we are determined and eager to find a cure, and we invite our willing wellie friends and families to join us in giving up a little something in October for ME.

This event has raised nearly £6000 including Gift Aid in the three years it has run, so huge thanks to everyone involved.

Back the Future of Biomedical Research for ME!

Dates have been announced for the 2018 international biomedical research conference events, organised and hosted by Invest in ME Research, and held at One Great George Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3AA.

This will be the 13th Invest in ME Conference (IIMEC13) and the 8th Biomedical Research into Colloquium (BRMEC8), with an international reputation as events that can drive forward progress in this disease, which will benefit patients and healthcare organsations and, ultimately, society.

The BRMEC* colloquiums are two-day events which bring together researchers and clinicians from countries around the world. The intent is to make progress in research into ME via collaboration, sharing, discussion and creation of new initiatives. As such the charity considers this a key event in the week’s proceedings.

An extra day has been added to the 2018 colloquium, specifically for early career researchers, and is headlined ‘Thinking the Future‘.

The IIMEC* conferences attract researchers, professionals working in healthcare (GPs, nurses, paediatricians etc.), students, media personnel, politicians and ME patient groups, patients and carers from around the world.

The conferences maintain a friendly atmosphere with the focus on research, treatments and progress.

Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition, has kindly agreed to give the opening speech at IIMEC13 and this news has been very warmly welcomed by patients, families, carers, researchers, as may be seen by the messages in this online Thank You card, which anyone may sgn.

Registration is now open for the conference with Early Bird ticket prices available until 3rd March 2018: http://investinme.eu/IIMEC13.shtml#register

If you belong to a local ME support group, there’s an option to recommend a GP or other healthcare professional for a concessionary rate. The conference is CPD-accredited so this a good opportunity.

Invest in ME Research is run by volunteers and all work is carried out for free. The charity does not receive government funding or huge donations from big institutions to run the conference. Therefore, to enable them to provide the best events possible they welcome donations or sponsorship from companies, organisations, support groups and individuals to make the International ME Conferences and Colloquiums a success.

The undercover agents at Let’s Do It for ME can’t attend these important annual events in person as we are housebound by ME, so this year we had the idea of donating what it would cost us to the charity instead.

We thought other supporters might like to do the same, whether as one lump sum or as smaller donations throughout the year, so we have set up a JustGiving page as an easy option for like-minded supporters: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fundraising-4me

You could donate just the ticket price, or add in travel and accommodation costs, but every donation helps this small charity to make their international biomedical research conference events bigger and better year on year, enabling an increasing number of outstanding scientists from around the world to get involved in finding answers to this dreadful disease, so please feel free to donate any amount from £1 upwards if you wish to, or just help spread the word to help raise awareness and education about biomedical research into ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis).

Here’s a JustTextGiving option for UK sponsors.
